The new Marrickville Timberyards will be the largest Build to Rent precinct in NSW, and will replace the Danias Timberyards, a stalwart of the neighbourhood for decades. This is a significant change to the fabric of the local area, and while we announce the project with excitement, we also welcome community discussion and feedback on development, density, precinct governance and responsibility as equally invested parties in our future communities.

This ambitious project has received SSDA development consent, with the defining drivers of the project being to maintain a strong connection to local identity and long-term partnerships with Marrickville’s makers, creatives, and artists.

Aileen Sage is designing the central public space around a retained steel warehouse structure, integrating public art and landscape in response to the site’s unique heritage and cultural context while workshopping challenges in collaboration and discussion with local organisations and businesses.
