The Treetop Studio, designed specifically to facilitate the creative practices of a writer and musician, sits propped on stilts above an open carport below, peeping out from between the neighbouring jacaranda and eucalyptus trees.
Responding to the strict and highly prescriptive requirements of the local council regulations, the design addresses the rear lane with a neat, clipped and conservative public face. The form then shifts and skews towards the front terrace house resulting in an unexpected tapered and screened form.

‘Every move across all scales of this building has been thoughtfully and economically resolved resulting in a building that is greater than the sum of its parts.’
