Barrenjoey Head is a prominent landmark adjacent to Palm Beach and a popular destination for both local and international visitors, with approximately 1000 people visiting the headland per day during peak periods.

The new public facility sits, partly hidden and contextually weathered with an endemic lansdscaped rooftop, terraced planting, and timber batten screens that have been alternately painted and left to grey, referencing its habitat of coastal scrub and rocky terrain.

Our design is conscientious of both the adjoining Head Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage and the engulfing National Park surrounds, prioritising subservience to both heritage and landscape through a thoughtfully spare and seasonally functional living building.
